The new FM sister to KERE 1470, KERE-FM signed on in late 1994, serving far northeastern Kansas. The FCC issued the call letters October 31, 1994.

However you spell "care," it's been done here. The current format is partially fed by satellite from the Jones Radio Network. KAIR-FM has retained local sports over the years. The variations on "care" are more thoroughly noted in the KAIR 1470 description. Overland Park-based Mark V Media agreed in 2004 to buy the station, and its AM partner. KNZA, INc., bought the station in 2007.
