1970-2013 - KLJC - Religious|
KLJC had one of the longer-running religious formats in the market. Easily, it has the most powerful facilities of any Kansas City religious broadcaster. A good portion of the programming was local. The station signed on August 9, 1970, with 510 watts of power. KLJC originally operated out of the Loretto at 39th and Mercier. KLJC upgraded to 10,000 watts in 1975, and 100,000 watts on Easter 1990. In the 1980s, KLJC moved with the college to south Kansas City. KLJC could also be heard on K280EK, 103.9 mHz in Emporia, Kansas. In January 2013, Northwestern College of Minnesota bought KLJC.
2013-current - KJNW - Contemporary Christian "Life 88.5"
With the sale to Northwestern College complete, KLJC switched call letters to KJNW in 2013, reflecting Northwestern's other stations. The format changed to mostly music, matching other stations owned by the college. The station ran automated for a while before rehiring local personalities.
