KTPK is the longest-running country outlet in Topeka, dating back to 1974. However, KTPK fell behind after WIBW-FM switched to country in 1989. KTPK went to the "Twister" name in 1998. In 2002, KTPK altered its image again, this time taking the name "K-Country 106.9." KTPK briefly became the affiliate for Mid America Ag Network's Kansas State University football and basketball broadcasts. JMJ Broadcasting bought the station in 2004.
